Ward maps

A wide range of data is available about areas in UK cities on a ward basis (see Facts and Figures). The lower map shows the pre-2004 wards. Some data may relate to pre-2004 boundaries.

From 2004 Byker Both the Byker wall estate and St Peter's are in Byker ward. Castle Kingston Park is in Castle ward (previously part was in Blakelaw). Gosforth is split into two wards, East and West Gosforth. Elswick Cruddas Park flats are in Elswick ward. Detailed pdf map

• Postcodes In towns and cities a postcode covers a much smaller area than a ward and data attached to a postcode can help to overcome some of the problems encountered using ward-based data. (For example the Byker wall estate and St Peter's are both in the Byker ward, but are clearly very different parts of Newcastle upon Tyne.)

Prior to 2004 boundary changes Point your mouse over the ward name to show its location on the map. Blakelaw Part of Kingston Park was in Blakelaw ward. Byker Both Byker wall estate and St Peter's were in Byker ward. Castle The northern part of Kingston Park was in Castle ward. South Gosforth Covered the core of Gosforth. West City Cruddas Park flats were in West City ward.
