Dear Friends,
I don't have the fancy set up which can tell me who you all are (such things exist), although some of you do sometimes drop me a line. It is nice to know my efforts are appreciated by a wider audience.
The website has been run up until now from a back bedroom on the suburban fringe of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The costs have been bore by me personally. The address (URL) provided free by BT as long as I dial up using them as my ISP.
The reason for doing it at all was really to benefit my own students (although I do know fewer of them have used it than I would've liked). The upside is that a wider audience has found it and liked bits of it. Sometimes other people's students have used me to dig them out of a hole (e-mailing about their projects usually).
Now I am moving on, leaving my A-level students behind, and I am about to pack the computer in the back bedroom into its boxes. For the next few months I'll be house-hunting and job-hunting in the Edinburgh area.
Unfortunately, as I'll be 'camping out' in temporary accommodation, I won't have a BT line and won't be able to 'dial-up' from 'home'. I had thought as long as I continued to use the geography@btinternet.com e-mail the site would remain up. However, I am led to believe that there is a 90-day rule. The site may disappear after 90 days of inactivity on my part. I have tried e-mailing BT, but no joy.
Thanks for the company,
Kay
